Jeffery Renard Allen discusses his novel Song of the Shank, which is based on the real life of Thomas Greene Wiggins, a 19th-century slave and improbable musical genius who performed under the name Blind Tom. Curated and hosted by Rob Spillman.

This series is made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
