Human Impacts Houston: Money and the Changing Climate
The Human Impacts Institute (HII) is headed to Houston for a night of art and conversation around innovative ways to tackle climate change. See how community leaders are turning a city built on the profits of oil and gas into a healthy, more livable green haven. This Human Impacts Salon will be our ninth in a creative communication series in partnership with the Transatlantic Climate Bridge of the German Embassy, where we bring together unlikely allies doing great climate work with multimedia conversation and live arts performances. Learn how Germany has negotiated multicultural action on climate change in the EU to become Europe's green leader. Get inspired to continue to transform the vibrant city of Houston into a green hotspot. Join us for an evening of engaging discussion from a diversity of Houston's community leaders, thinkers, and artists. This event will be free and open to the public.
Panelists include: Dr. Georg Maue, First Secretary of Climate and Energy, German Embassy to the U.S.; Dr. Robert Bullard, Dean of the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs, Texas Southern University; Marita Mirzatuny, Project Manager, Clean Energy, Environmental Defense Fund; Dominic Boyer, Ph.D., Founding Director (CENHS) and Professor (Department of Anthropology,) Rice University's Center of Energy and Environmental Research in the Human Sciences; Richard Leader, President and Chief Investment Officer, First Houston Capital; and Deborah DEEP Mouton, Resident Writer, Writers in the Schools
With special live performances from DEEP, Amir Safi, and other local artists and musicians.
