WeLiveHere! Featuring the music of -- Darrell Grant & On The Territory (w/ Cameron Morgan, Sam Howard, John Nastos, Ji Tanzer & Maureen Kelly Frary) -- Singer/songwriter Kabir Green (w/Jed Wilson, Sam Howard & Russ Kleiner) The musical stories of -- Writer/narrator Lynn Darroch (w/Jonathan Swanson and photo displays by Judy Blankenship and Douglas Yarrow)
WeLiveHere! This is what we share what the songwriters, filmmakers, poets, painters, writers, photographers, composers, dancers and other storytellers who call this place home have in common. In wine they call it the terroir that mix of dirt, rain, sun, wind and water that makes one vineyards grapes taste different from anothers.
And the territory shapes its artists, too. Seeps into our tunes and our dreams, inspires us, connects uswhether we are native or transplant. It runs deeper than genre or musical style. When you love a place, its story cant help but make its way into your own, and you can feel its current in the work.
Please join us as we bring our music and lyrics, our instruments and voices, our still and moving images, our poems and original stories together to explore our terroir and yours.
About the Artists Darrell Grant & On The Territory The music of pianist/vocalist Darrell Grants new group On the Territory is a diverse and beautiful landscape, where jazz, blues, gospel, folk, classical and rock music are the rivers, valleys, mountain peaks and quiet retreats. The band reinvents songs by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, John Lennon, Keith Jarreet and others that share a reflection on place, and a beauty that speaks to our life and times. (w/ Cameron Morgan-guitar, Sam Howard-bass, John Nastos-saxophones, Ji Tanzer-drums, and Maureen Kelly Frary-vocals)
Lynn Darroch A contributor to the Oregonian, KMHD radio host and Jazzscene editor, Lynn Darroch presents musical stories that bring to life jazz and Latin music heroes (including Ray Charles and Ruben Blades), Mexican schoolteachers and immigrant children as well as the people and places that define the Oregon experience -- in live performances and on CD, including Local Heroes/American Originals. Hell be joined by Portland pianist, composer, vocalist and recording engineer Jonathan Swanson in an interplay of words and music accompanied by photographs moving in tandem with them.
Kabir Green Filled with all the love, loss, and life that his generation is heir to, singer/songwriter Kabir Greens songs break free of cynicism and encourage trust in our human spirit and ability to relate to each other. His latest CD is The Five Dollar Club. He will appear with Jed Wilson-keyboards, Russ Kleiner-drums, and Sam Howard-bass.
