Beginning to Intermediate
This workshop is designed to use some of the materials that the student may have collected over the years for that special garment: a collection of designer fabrics, fabrics all in one color, buttons, beads, laces and treasured fabrics.
This class will give students the opportunity to combine some or all of their treasures into a fanciful designer coat. Students may further personalize their coat by adding hand or machine embroidery or other fancy stitchery.
Rachel encourages students to create their own very personal statement while giving themselves permission to play. Rachel will share her enthusiasm and unique design approach to creating. Students should begin their preparation by collecting their treasures: button, beads, etc., and at least 15 to 20 fabrics. About Rachel Clark
Rachel Clark is a contemporary folk artist, teacher and lecturer who comes from a long line of sewers, beginning with her great-grandmother. She has been making wearable art for over 30 years and teaching nationally for twelve years.
Eclectic fabric mixes, vibrant designs and her keen sense of humor characterize Rachel's work. Her work can be whimsical, political or make a personal statement, but it always reflects her love of traditional quilt making. She has done several one-woman shows and has been featured in various galleries, magazines such as "Threads," and "The Quilting Quarterly," the Fairfield Fashion Show and, HGTVs Simply Quilts.
