Trio Globo at WMU's Dalton Recital Hall
GLAMA is collaborating with Western Michigan University's School of Music and the Michigan Festival of Sacred Music to bring Trio Gobo to the Dalton Center Recital Hall on WMU's campus Wednesday, October 22. The 7:30 concert will be preceded by a pre-concert talk at 7pm. As part of this collaboration we have a block of tickets we would like to share with our members and volunteers. Here's the pitch for you to show your support of GLAMA's activities that are aimed at bringing acoustic music of many types to new listeners in our community and thereby introduce them to the world of acoustic/folk/traditional/Americana/roots music that it is our mission to preserve, present and perform:
FAMILY MEMBERSHIP LEVEL ($25) If you have been thinking about becoming a member, or are a former member but have let your membership lapse, join us at the FAMILY MEMBERSHIP LEVEL ($25) and get two tickets to the Trio Globo concert as your premium. About TRIO GLOBO:
Trio Globo has crafted a totally original voice in contemporary acoustic jazz. With roots in jazz, classical and sacred music, rhythmic influences derived from travels in six continents, and a combustible spontaneity, cellist Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort), pianist and master harmonica player Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Kenny Loggins, Paquito d'Rivera), and percussionist Glen Velez (Paul Winter Consort, Steve Reich) epitomize the quintessential group for the 21st century. They are true originals re-inventing their instruments in new music both personal and global. www.trioglobo.com
"Eugene, Howard & Glen are magnificent players with distinct musical voices. Together they have a fresh new sound and offer a unique vision of the world of music." Dave Brubeck
"These are true musical citizens of the world. Amidst a pulsing energy and virtuosity, a refreshing and soaring lyricism stands out as perhaps Trio Globo's signature quality." Paul Winter
This presentation is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and General Mills Foundation.
This event is presented as a collaboration between the Michigan Festival of Sacred Music, Western Michigan University School of Music, and the Great Lakes Acoustic Music Association.
