SOCIAL MUSCLE CLUB + Closing Party
Welcome to the Micro-Fest, a three-day burst of progressive performance and events from the UK and Europe spread across the city of Bristol.
THE SOCIAL MUSCLE CLUB/CLOSING PARTY We'll tie up the weekend with music, cocktails and THE SOCIAL MUSCLE CLUB.
We all need something and we all have something to give.
Social Muscle Club attempts to change our habitual patterns of thinking and doing through the practice of sharing. It began life as a private party for eight friends in a living room in Berlin. Their inspiration was Peter Nestler's documentary Menschen von Sheffield which features a factory workers' social club that states "entertainment and social support" as its primary purpose. The group went on to research new ways for people to come together in order to strengthen commitment, open up dialogue, and overcome separation. Their discoveries carried them forward on a quest to create participatory events which use art especially performance as an excuse to bring people together to exercise their 'social muscles'. SMC grew to become a bimonthly event at the Sophiensæle independent theatre in central Berlin, and they are now hosting their Trying to Talk tour.
Join Social Muscle Club for its very first Bristol incarnation. Expect a night of fun, giving and receiving, ringing bells and surprising performance. Just about anything could happen
