Beginning Quilting with Mary Austin - A Gualala Arts Workshop - Thurs, Feb. 11 - March 25, 2010.
Beginning Quilting with Instructor Mary Austin - A Gualala Arts Workshop on Thursdays, February 11 through March 25, 2010, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
A class for beginning quilters with no previous experience. The class size will be small so that each student may receive lots of individual attention. Basic quilting skills will be taught. Students will make ten different quilt blocks while learning cutting and piecing so that the student can select the one with which they are most comfortable. Color selection and use is emphasized.
About Mary Austin: My passion is the collecting and use of antique country Japanese textiles. Although I usually select indigo fabrics, I sometimes use other fabrics collected over the years. One reason I enjoy teaching quilting is that it is a great forum for making available to quilters the many alternative techniques available. I feel strongly there is no "right" way to do things.
Please see the website GualalaArts.org for the materials list: http://www.gualalaarts.org/Groups/Workshop/2010-02BeginningQuilting.pdf. Or, you can call the Gualala Arts Center to have it mailed.
Tuition: Members of Gualala Arts and PPQG: $60 or $10 each session; Members of Gualala Arts or PPQG: $80 or $15 each session; Non-members: $100 or $20 each session.
