This Way
Empire will be host to the return of This Way after a 4 month Portland hiatus. We've been concentrating on songwriting and playing out of town shows, reaping some major headway in New York City. In the process, This Way's sound has shed some of it's eclectic sub genres and have arrived at a place of musical definition, embracing what it is we do best: play Americana rock & roll with down-home splashes of folk and country.
Sadly, this show will also be This Way's last with drummer Seth Kearns as he will be concentrating more of his musical efforts to producing. Seth's enormous talent will be greatly missed and we look forward to brining the house down one last time with our old friend and bandmate.
The show will also be featuring some of our good friends and musicians from the area including saxophonist Tyler Card amongst others so get ready for a full on house party.
We are proud to be playing alongside Brooklyn's own Kittens Ablaze, a band that is rapidly garnering some major cred in New York as well as the rest of the nation. This will be Kittens Ablaze first show in their former home of Maine and last show of their national tour in support of their acclaimed album "The Monstrous Vanguard". The publication Earfarm writes of Kittens Ablaze, "Heartfelt, impassioned orchestral indie pop." www.myspace.com/kittensablaze
Also on the bill is Boston rock outfit Tab The Band, fronted by Joe Perry's son Adrian Perry. These guys have quite a resume, opening for bands like Stone Temple Pilots and currently promoting a new single called "Bought and Sold." The Boston Globe writes of Tab The Band: "...playing killer Cheap Trick-meets-Lemonheads-style power-pop, and doing just fine." www.myspace.com/tabtheband
