Harvest Time (Elonkorjuu) (Finland: 15 min) & Lights in the Dusk (Laitakaupungin valot) (Finland: 93 min)
Harvest time is a 15 minute short from Finland. For so long, farmhouse lady Anja Huovinen has gritted her teeth and put up with her lazy husband's drinking and idle talk, focusing instead on her work. She reaches her limits. Our second film is also from Finland.
Lights in the Dusk, also from Finland, is written and directed by Aki Kaurismaki. Koistenin is a man without affect or friends; a night-watchman in Helsinki. Out of the blue, a young sophisticated blonde woman attaches herself to Koistenin. He thinks of her as his girlfriend, he takes her on her rounds. Will Koistenin ever wise up to her true criminal intentions?
