Shakespeare Speaker Julia Lupton - Free event
Julia Lupton, Professor of English at UC, Irvine and author or co-author of four books on Shakespeare, will discuss SHAKESPEARE'S LIARS: An interactive exploration of truth and lying in Othello, Macbeth, Hamlet, and Shakespeareâs Sonnets. How do lies drive plots, reveal character, generate dramatic irony, become shared by interlocutors, and manifest the artistâs art?
Professor Lupton is a Trustee of the Shakespeare Association of America, a former Guggenheim Fellow, dramaturg for the New Swan Shakespeare Festival at UCI, and co-director with Eli Simon of UCIâs new Shakespeare Center.
