Celebrating Charlie Haden, Jazz Legend
Join us as we remember jazz legend Charlie Haden in a celebration of his life through film, music, and testimonials from those who knew him best. From 6:00-7:00 we will be playing Charlie's music and showing a slideshow in the SHED cafe. The cafe will offer our full menu. Please join us for dinner and enjoy Charlie's music. At 7:00 in the Grange we'll show the documentary "Charlie Haden, Rambling Boy," a film about the life and work of this fascinating American musician, bandleader, composer, producer, educator, political activist and family man.
Immediately following the film there will be a Q & A panel that will include Charlie's wife, Ruth Cameron Haden, as well as founding member of Charlie Haden's Quartet West, saxophonist, Ernie Watts, and record producer, Hans Wendl. Attendees will be welcome to ask questions, share their stories and memorabilia.
Wine, beer, and popcorn (Charlie loved the smell of popcorn), will be available for purchase. This is a free community event. Donations in Charlie's memory will be accepted for the Healdsburg Jazz Festival Music Education Program.
Seating for this event is first-come, first-serve. If you would like a guaranteed seat, please arrive early. The upstairs will open at 6:45.
