SF Choral Artists 09-10 Season Subscription
Enjoy 3 programs from this renowned chamber ensemble: **December: OLD CHESTNUTS, NEW FIRE!** A tantalizing alternative to traditional December choral concerts, this program offers some of the season's more distinctive repertoire. Celebrate the holiday season with a program of warm favorites requested by singers and audience alike. Music of Britten, Byrd, Pärt, Biebl, Busto, Gesualdo, and Tavener joins that of the Bay Area's own Aprahamian, Conte, Bielawa, Nixon, and others. Add two sparkling world premieres from San Jose Composer-In-Residence Brian Holmes and New Zealand Composer-Not-In-Residence Christopher Marshall, and you'll unwrap new favorites at this joyful concert. Dates are on Dec 5, 12 and 13 at Peninsula, San Francisco and East Bay venues. **March: FORECAST: SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF SONG** Share new works we predict will become classics, while basking in masterworks that have shaped our great a cappella tradition: Debussy "Trois Chansons", Poulenc "Lenten Motets", Britten "Five Flower Songs", Hindemith "Six Chansons". Featuring world premieres including Brian Holmes' e.e. cummings settings and Christopher Marshall's tale of the struggles of a would-be migrant. Concerts are March 14, 19, 20, and 21, 2010, at San Francisco, Peninsula, Marin, and East Bay venues. **June: 25 by 25 by 25** Want to hear what 25 years of expanding the choral repertoire sounds like? The 25 Choral Artists perform 25 works they have premiered from composers who have enriched all our lives, including Ted Allen, Herb Bielawa, Russell Burnham, Paul Crabtree, Robin Estrada, Kirke Mechem, Henry Mollicone, Jerry Mueller, and New Voices competition winners under 30. And introducing new works by Brian Holmes, Christopher Marshall, and others, one involving a pork pie bought in Samoa. Concerts are June 13, 19, and 20 at San Francisco, Peninsula, and East Bay venues. WHAT FOLKS SAY ABOUT THE CHORAL ARTISTS:
"The Choral Artists sang with fervor, discernment, and tonal beauty." -- Anna Carol Dudley, San Francisco Classical Voice
"...amongst the foremost unaccompanied singing groups... on this or any other coast." -- R. Dane Danubian, artssf.com
