classroom insights | learnlab 2.0 | why a square?

This course looks at trends such as: accountability for learning outcomes, attracting and retaining students & faculty, creating living & learning environments, technology everywhere, increasing expectations of students & parents, learning is social must engage students, building community in the classrooms, enabling the practice of 21st century learning skills and uses a research process to invent and then improve upon a new classroom design. The following areas will be covered in this version of the LearnLab 2.0 CEU: 1) our questions, 2) ethnography, 3) prototyping, 4) orientations and why they are important, and 5) learnlab's evolutions, or 2.0 and the data supporting this classroom design. As a result of this course, you should be able to
Recognize the research questions that drove this body of work;
Determine the research process, in particular the ethnographic studies and see the patterns of active learning;
Define the prototyping processes and the iterative nature of it;
Describe the current major orientations of classrooms and why understanding this information is important;
Describe the differences relative to the "typical" classroom orientation and the LearnLab's; and
Recognize the evolution of the LearnLab based on the research.
