Mommy Needs a Cocktail Event at MELT
Back by popular demand, Momasphere is thrilled to invite you to our second bi-monthly Mommy Needs Cocktail evening at Melt, for some good laughs and an opportunity to mingle and network with a fabulous group of New York City moms of ALL ages.

Comedians, spoken word artists & authors (all moms) will share their sometimes hilarious/ sometimes touching trials & tribulations of motherhood.  After the performance, there will be more time to network and mingle. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to Children Of The City.

Melt will offer one free signature cocktail (or mocktail) and hors d'oeuvres throughout the evening and there will be great raffles and goodie bags (including a free Fall Hybrid Mom magazine!).

Time :  4:30 to 7pm
Date :  Sunday, November 8th
Cost :  Tickets are $10 online & $15 at the door
Place : Melt Restaurant, 440 Bergen St (bet 5th ave. & 6th ave.) Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY 11217

Space is limited so please RSVP by purchasing tickets online. Tickets are available for sale at the door for $15.00 on a first-come-first-served basis.

The performers for the evening are:

A comedy virtuoso, Abbi Crutchfield keeps her plate full in New York city with writing, performing stand-up, improvisational comedy, creating sketches, starring and directing in short films and producing a live comedy hour show in Park Slope called The Living Room. She is also a regular contributor to Hip Slope Mama. For a daily laugh, read her Curly Comedy blog.

Brooklyn poet and mom, Michele Madigan Somerville is the author of the book-length poem WISEGAL (Ten Pell Books 2001) and Black Irish, her first collection of verse, forthcoming this fall (2009) from Plain View Press. Her verse has appeared in Hanging Loose, Mudfish, Pagan Place, Downtown Brooklyn and Puerto Del Sol. Her essay Born Again Catholic in Brooklyn recently appeared in the New York Times online Happy Days series where it generated voluminous and fervent reader response.

Carolyn Castiglia, a mom comedian who has been seen and heard nationally on VH1, MTV2, NBC's Last Comic Standing, Nick-at-Nite's Funniest Mom in America 3, The Maury Show, ABC World News with Charles Gibson and Sirius/XM Radio. She performs stand-up all over New York, in both alternative venues and mainstream clubs.

Jen Lee is a regular storyteller at The Moth Story Slams in Manhattan and Brooklyn. She teaches workshops on finding your voice and telling your story, and is the author of Take Me with You: A Journal for the Journey.

Randi Skaggs a part-time public school teacher/part-time stay at home mom as well as a writer and performer of plays, sketches, essays and other musings.  She has recently become addicted to sharing way too much personal information at the Moth Story Slam.  She is orginally from Kentucky and can bake a heck of a delicious red velvet cake.  She is married to fellow blogger David Serchuk and is mother to Stella, the most fiesty 18 month old around.  You can read more about her adventures in motherhood on her blog, http://www.brooklynbabymomma.blogspot.com
