Joel Karabo Elliott
Joel Karabo Elliott is a American/South African composer and musician. The music of his new "Roots Grown Deep" album blends African and American folk-indigenous-reggae sounds and tells the story of his life-changing journey from the pavements of America to the rivers and villages of the Limpopo in southern Africa. Roots Grown Deep is a musical tale of simplicity and learning to unlearn.

From Joel Karabo Elliott's American Tour Blog:
"When the spirit of inspiration grants you a concept or a project it does not mean you immediately gain an overstanding of the meaning of the concept. The meaning is revealed over time, as you walk faithfully in the calling.
"'Roots Grown Deep' began as a story of unlearning, a story of my life in a Limpopo village after having grown up in American suburbs and cities, a story of living with the land and experiencing a more ancient way of walking the earth. Now I'm back in the USA and the weight of my ancestral heritage is inundating me as I spend time with my relatives. I see now that what Africa taught me reinforced what I was raised to know: the deep richness of family. Roots are family, and our ancestors are watering those roots from within."
