APAT: A Quartet of Short Acts by Conrad A. Panganiban
CIRCAPINTIG presents four works of dramatic- comedy by Conrad A. Panganiban!

We are quite proud and excited about Conrad's plays and we are pleased to be engaging actors both young and not so young in pieces that cover themes around "...the quest for identity within the Immigrant-American experience through the challenges of childhood, assimilation, and mental illness..."

Conrad A. Panganiban, playwright for MAMASIHERO and AGENT KILIKILI AND HIS MALE ORDER BRIDE (selections from A-Squared Theatre's MY ASIAN MOM), shares with us humor through honesty and self-refelction.

This production celebrates CIRCA Pintig's 23rd Anniversary Season, earlier productions for the season included: Short Acts (a selection of one act plays), Immigrant Diaries: ALLOS and Looking for Darna, A Scent of Home: Bienvenido Santos Trilogy, so onward to APAT!

BANG, BANG, CLAP, renders a quick hitting exploration.  Tries to explain what can happen when a big part of one's identity is denied for too long.  It involves a screenwriter who goes to therapy to work through his creative block.  Together with the therapist they amusingly find the cause and make a significant revelation.  Directed by Daisy Castro and performed by Ben Albovias and Annamarie Tabo.

THE FAMILY FRUCTUOSO, is a heartfelt sitcom that presents the struggles of a high school senior as  she secretly applies for a Yale scholarship.  She finds out, last minute, that she's being considered and has to prepare herself and her not so "normal" family for the Big Interview.  The whole quirky family mobilizes to assist their beloved member toward her goal.  The fun starts as each one attempts their idea of "normal," keeping their out of the ordinary - true selves under wraps, to impress the Scholarship representative.  In the midst of this, we see from where the courage for self-exploration to seek out her own identity comes.  Directed by Cary Shoda and performed by Ben Albovias, Christy Aliposa, Levi Aliposa, Divine Calo, Robert Manzano, and Gigi Mascarenas.

INFINITE LINE BETWEEN ME, LOLO, LOLA, AND LOCO exposes an embattled journey that initiates a discussion on reality vs. everything else and its effects on perception.  Lolo has a diagnosed mental illness and lives with his grandson who helps care for him, or does he?  The grandson seems to have everything under control until he finds he must fight forces, beyond his control, to keep a deep dark secret well buried.  They recently lost Lola, but she remains an integral part of their history. Explores the question of insanity.  Directed by Jonald Reyes and performed by Levi Aliposa, Myrla Baldonado, and Annamarie Tabo.

TAG UR IT! reveals an endearing examination of a young boy trying to process his identity crisis with his very best and long-time friends.  After being teased at school, the boy, melancholy and withdrawn, embarks on some self-reflection within the scope of his environment.  Helping him on his way are his two closest friends to provide their two cents and support.  Directed by Daisy Castro and featuring CIRCA kids: Caedan Jinks, Olive Leopoldo, and Gabriela Weaver.
