Jamie Laval and Zac Leger present a 2-hour program of traditional music from the Celtic regions of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Quebec, and Appalachia, featuring toe-tapping melodies, haunting ballads, and amusing stories of the performer's lives on the road.
Jamie Lavals unique approach to traditional Celtic music blends the simplicity of an ancient art form with stunning virtuosity and contemporary flair that resonates with families, youth, seniors, and devotees of ethnic, jazz, and classical music.
Laval is heralded as One of North Americas finest practitioners of traditional Scottish music (San Jose Mercury News) and The next Alasdair Fraser (Press and Post). The Asheville Citizen-Times writes, One of the hottest fiddlers out therethis act has been turning heads wherever it plays.
A resident of Asheville, North Carolina, Laval began his music career studying classical music at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. In 2002 Laval won the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship and subsequently embarked on a full time touring career which today includes over 120 engagements per year throughout the U.S. and Scotland. He performed for Her Majesty the Queen, on Dave Matthews album Some Devil, and serves on the faculty of the Swannanoa Gathering. www.JamieLaval.com
Guitarist Zac Leger presently resides in Los Angeles. He tours with the Eileen Ivers Band and Celtic Crossroads and is equally respected for his stunning playing of Uillean pipes, whistle, and the Irish Bouzouki. Last year Zac won the All-Ireland Championship for piping. www.ZacLeger.com
