CNT Young Innovators Chicago River Canoe Trip
Join CNT Young Innovators and Friends of the Chicago River on Saturday, October 11th for a unique glimpse into the ongoing transformation of the Chicago River from a sewage and transportation canal into a vital ecological, recreational, and economic asset.
We'll meet at Park #571 (near S. Lock St. and S. Loomis St.) at 10 a.m. to launch the canoes. From there, we'll get a guided tour of historical sites along the South Branch of the Chicago River, including Bubbly Creek, Canal Origins Park, the Fisk Generating Station, Ping Tom Park, and more.
Total distance paddled: ~6 miles. Friends of the Chicago River guides will provide safety and paddling instruction, plus all of the necessary equipment.
The trip costs $45 per person, and space is extremely limited. Registration ends Friday, October 3rd. And don't worry, tickets will be refunded if we have to cancel because of weather.
Can't make the paddle, but still want to hang out? Meet up with the group at Maria's Packaged Goods (960 W. 31st St.) around 1 p.m.!
