Maier Hall Concert Series: Paul Taub/Byron Schenkman
As a founding member of the Seattle Chamber Players and a Professor at Cornish College in Seattle, Paul Taub plays an active role in the Seattle and national music scene. He has worked extensively to promote Soviet/Russian composers in America and American composers in the former Soviet Union, and his Soviet repertoire has been featured in many venues, including National Public Radio's Performance Today. In 2011, he released Edge Flute Music from the Periphery of Europe (Present Sounds).
Byron Schenkman has recorded more than thirty CDs of 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, including recordings on historical instruments from the National Music Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He is a recipient of the Erwin Bodky Award from the Cambridge Society for Early Music "for outstanding achievement in the field of early music" and has been a featured guest with, among others, the Chameleon Arts Ensemble of Boston, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Philharmonia Northwest, and the Portland Baroque Orchestra.
