Jan Bartoszek, Artistic Director and Founder of Hedwig Dances
Maray GutiƩrrez, Hedwig Dances Artistic Associate and ensemble member (native of Cuba)
Susana Pous, DanzAbierta resident choreographer
Roell Schmidt, Director of Links Hall (co-presenter of Trade Winds/Aires de Cambio)
Join Chicago-based Hedwig Dances and Havana-based DanzAbierta as they discuss cross-cultural collaboration in the field of dance. These two dance theater ensembles have participated in a two-year international cultural exchange initiative that has resulted in a new work entitled Trade Winds/Aires de Cambio (Air of Change) based upon the central theme of cyclical time in two different cultures. It will receive its world premiere at The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago October 9-11, 2014. In this panel discussion, the artists and choreographers examine the successes and difficulties of simultaneously choreographing one piece in two separate countries and how international collaboration draws our world closer through the medium of dance.

Hedwig Dances is supported by grants from The Arts Works Fund for Organizational Development, a donor advised fund of the Chicago Community Foundation;  The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation International Connections Fund; The MacArthur Fund for Arts and Culture at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation; the National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund/Forth Fund; Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation; The Dolores Kohl Education Fund from the Morris & Dolores Kohl Kaplan Fund; a CityArts grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events;  the Illinois Arts Council Agency; and, many generous individuals.
