These Guys, These Guys / Bridges of Konigsberg / After Nations (KS) / Rocket Miner
These Guys, These Guys These Guys These Guys was formed in the summer of '07, those bygone days when men were men and women were also men. Drummer Pete Kosmal and guitarist Jake Szafranski were looking for a "good time," as well as someone to play some music with. They found both in Branden Johnson, a mutual friend. Johnson could play the piano a little bit, so they thought, "Why not?" and got their music on. The arrival of bassist Emily Ward brought lower notes and a touch of irony to the name These Guys These Guys.
Bridges of Konigsberg experimental rock, post-rock, dream pop, shoegaze
After Nations (KS) Loud, face-melting, mind collapsing prog rock.
Rocket Miner Coming from the same city that's home to two post-metal heavy hitters, Russian Circles and Pelican, Chicago's Rocket Miner have carved a decidedly non-metal niche for themselves within the scene. Where Rocket Miner really stand out, not only from their hometown contemporaries, but in the genre as a whole, is their ability to write songs that don't adhere to some of post-rock's more tried and truecharacteristics. But while Russian Circles and Pelican take darker turns and incorporate metal-esque riffing, Rocket Miner's songs tend to blossom in slow-motion, like flowers blooming, giving plenty of time to allow the sweeping grandeur to earn its reward.
