Chicago Fair Trade's Globalfest Latin America 2014
WHEN: Friday, November 14, 2014 5:30-9:00 (Day of the Dead exhibit is open until 7:00) WHERE: The National Museum of Mexican Art 1852 W. 19th Street in Chicago's Pilsen Neighborhood.
Join us at our annual benefit and enjoy an evening of music and an open bar featuring fair trade cocktails, wine and local craft beer. Feast on a buffet of heavy appetizers and check out our most expansive silent auction to date. This year, we will raffle off a one-of-a-kind work of art created for the event by renowned local artist Michael Hernandez de Luna. You can also visit the National Museum of Mexican Art's acclaimed Day of the Dead exhibit.
Veteran journalist Vicente Serrano, host of the independent Radio Sin Censura program, will serve as emcee and present CFT's seventh annual Changemaker award. This year's award will go to 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar and to fashion designer/labor activist Jamie Hayes for their roles in our recent successful campaign: Chicago's City Council passed an anti-sweatshop ordinance this summer. Come celebrate this major victory with us and thank our Changemakers for their work to make it happen!
We will be highlighting our Latin American fair trade partners and share fair trade stories from CFT member businesses who work in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, El Salvador, Argentina, and México. We hope to see you there!
