Biodynamic Basics for Farm and Garden
The practice of Biodynamic farming means adhering to organic, holistic, and cosmic tenets. Learn the differences between organic and Biodynamic growing and how to integrate its principles into your garden.
This workshop will be taught by Cynthia Sandberg, proprietor of Love Apple Farms. Love Apple Farm, located in Santa Cruz, has an exclusive supply relationship with high-end restaurant Manresa, and offers educational programming and farm classes. On the farm, Cynthia uses biodynamic and organic techniques to grow over 300 different cultivars of fruit, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers.
Beginning her work life as a trial attorney, Cynthia transitioned to farming after falling in love with gardening in her backyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Founding Love Apple in 2000, Cynthia started as a tomato plant grower and had a small tomato fruit stand on her property. In 2010, she purchased 22 acres of terraced hillside for the farm, which achieved Demeter certification as a biodynamic farm in 2012.
Cynthia has spoken at numerous gardening and farming conferences and garden clubs. She was the keynote speaker for Monterey Master Gardener's BootCamp, and has spoken at Sunset Celebration Weekend, San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, Eco-Farm, MAD Symposium in Copenhagen and Nordic Barista Cup in Oslo, Norway.
