Lord Loves a Working Man Halloween Costume Ball
Arena Theater presents a Halloween Costume Ball on Saturday October 31 with Lord Loves a Working Man, a 12-piece soul revue band playing original music inspired by the raw and emotive sound of the Southern Soul shouters and the horn-driven Rhythm & Blues of the 1960s. This show is an opportunity to flaunt your costume for prizes and dance the night away to the groups dynamic, full throttled musicianship, guided by an amazing couple of vocalists, sultry singer Cynthia Taylor and trumpeter Freddi Price. The show will open with chanteuse Phat Mandee and her band of locals.
Based out of San Francisco's Mission District, Lord Loves a Working Man presents fully-inspired, classic, old school rhythm and blues, powered by unforgettable horns and keyboards, touched with the sound of Otis Redding and Sly and the Family Stone. Band members include Max Baloian, who, along with Freddi Price, is a member of the three-piece ensemble Rube Waddell, and Pat Moran, music director of the San Francisco Mime Troupe.
According to SF Weekly: Winner of [2008]'s SF Weekly Music Award for the Soul/Funk/R&B category, Lord Loves a Working Man infuses Deep South grit into its Mission District home base. The band balances moody blues with uplifting shakers and near-spiritual onstage jam sessions.
Tickets for the concert are $15.00. Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the Arena Theater Bar and snack stand will be open.
