Growing Beans, Peas, and Families
In this 2-hour workshop participants will explore the year-round growing cycle of green beans, peas, and other vegetables while discussing the nuances and micro-experiences of gardening than can enrich family life.
Growing a family garden can engage children and adults in ways that effect health practices and build deeper connections with their living habitats.
Learn how growing food in the family habitat can effect your neighborhood, transform your property, inspire new kinds of conversations with neighbors and grow opportunities for sharing food, and engaging neighborhood children.
Facilitator: Richard S. Kordesh, Ph.D. is the author of Restoring Power to Parents and Places. He is an avid vegetable gardener, and regularly publishes essays about family and gardening in local media. Richard and his wife, Maureen, raised four children in their family habitat in Oak Park. He is a board member of the Sugar Beet Schoolhouse.
