I Am Lono, Daisy Victoria & Blindness
We have another fantastic night of music for you!
Opening proceedings we have the superb London based 3 piece Blindness. With a nod to Curve (Debbie Smith is the Blindness guitarist!) and taking the fuzzed out riffs from both them and Garbage, they twist them to form their own sound. With the enigmatic stage presence of lead singer Beth, and the bass playing prowess of Emma, this is a band that will leave you needing to hear more!
After them we have the superb Daisy Victoria. Daisy has been described by Lauren Laverne as a 'rising star'. Lauren has also played her on her BB6 Music morning show and in July made her mpfree of the day. Daisy has also been played, followed and retweeted by BBC6's Mary Anne Hobbs.
Her forthcoming EP has received a great deal of industry pre-release buzz. Her debut EP was featured in NME's Radar section, and she was also selected from thousands to represent BBC Introducing at this years Latitude on Huw Stephen's Lake Stage. She's also been play-listed in Pigeons and Planes, received a 9/10 review in Louder Than War, been included multiple times in Tom Robinson's Freshnet top picks, received frequent airplay from BBC Introducing, student radio, BBC6 airplay, and has played multiple live BBC Introducing sessions.
Last act of the night is the mighty I Am Lono! The Nottingham based 2 piece are big favourites of ours, and we're delighted to have hem celebrate their EP launch with us! I Am Lono have a fuzzed out, wall of sound approach to electronic music, combines visceral layers of guitar and washes of apocalyptic synth with motorik drum machine beats.
The songs they write are influenced by things such as love affairs, murderous lawyers, conspiracy theories, record breaking orgies and romantically deluded captors.
Their high energy live shoes have earned them an ever expanding and loyal fan base, and they have supported bands such as Savages, Walls, Palma Violets and Six By Seven, as well as opening Dot to Dot festival.
Their music has been played on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing and their videos have been featured on Artrocker as well as numerous other blogs. They also recently put out a limited edition cassette tape through Rough Trade which quickly sold out. With a Sunset People DJ set as well, a fabulous night of music is pretty much guaranteed!
