Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen
The magnetic and mysterious Hedda Gabler, stifled by society's conventions, has captivated audiences since she sprang from Ibsen's imagination in 1890. Her perplexing machinations find the perfect home in Washington, D.C.'s politically-charged Georgetown of 1963 in this new adaptation by Michael Avolio.
This production, directed by Michael Avolio, features Katie Culligan as Hedda, Brian McDermott as George, Sarah Ferris as Thea, Francisco Reinoso as Judge Brack, Christian Sullivan as Elliott Lovborg, Laura Russell as Aunt Julia, and Kecia Campbell as Berta.
"Hedda Gabler is one of the modern theatre classics that can, in lesser hands, be an endless drudge; fortunately Quotidian's current production argues for a more lively, nuanced interpretation." (MD Theatre Guide)
"An ensemble of believable characters... Intriguing and memorable. As Hedda, Katie Culligan makes an immediate impression. Her interpretation is definitive and fascinating." (Broadway World)
"Quotidian Theatre Company's production and Avolio's new adaptation of the timeless HEDDA GABLER offer a new angle of engagement with Ibsen's enduring masterpiece of human nature in all its frustrating complexity." (DC Metro Theater Arts)
