"A Simple Country Girl" written by Taylor Mead read by Galinsky
Taylor Mead's fourth book--his best and funniest book--, "Taylor Mead, a Simple Country Girl," is a collection of poems that are bright, ephemeral, and brilliant downtown Zen. He's the very first movie star ever, the Poet Laureate of Andy Warhol's Factory (he introduced film making to Andy Warhol), and has appeared in innumerable underground classics from Warhol's "Lonesome Cowboys" to the first film of the Beat generation, "The Flower Thief", to Jim Jarmusch's, "Coffee and Cigarettes." In this reading of "A Simple Country Girl" Galinsky (NYC performer, poet, good friend to the late Mead) continues Taylor's tradition of avant poetry with a full and vibrant reading, where much of the book's work originated on stage at the Bowery Poetry Club. The performance will be followed by the first NYC screening of the short film, "Taylor Mead's Fifteen Final Minutes", and then discussion over whiskey
