The Ocean
Join us for an evening at Imagine Food to celebrate our most vital resource: The Ocean.
Oceans are the largest and most diverse of all of Earth's ecosystems, covering about 71% of the globe; our entire existence is dependent upon them. Despite this, the bounty of the sea is still being taken for granted and squandered by poor fishing practices, changes in the ocean's chemistry and pollution. If we don't begin to take a more mindful approach to caring for our waters and its diverse array of inhabitants, there may be no ocean left for any of us, and by consequence, no more us.
It is time to start rethinking and reworking the ways we exploit this precious entity, starting with striking a balance between economy and ecology.
At Imagine Food we are working with the leaders of the sustainable seafood movement in Seattle and across the country, including the award winning Taylor Shellfish to help spread awareness that there is hope for the ocean and it is possible to farm seafood in a responsible way.
We have many great contributors to share with you, including:
-Pearl's Ocean Inspired Drink with Café Vita
-A talk hosted by Betsy Peabody, Executive Director of the Puget Sound Restoration Fund
-Up and Coming Chef, Alex Fekete
-Pristine Oysters, mussels, clams, and other sustainably sourced seafood from Taylor Shellfish
