Canning 101: Hands-on Skills Workshop
Canning Basics 101 Saturday, September 20 Whole Foods Roosevelt Classroom Time: 10am to 12noon
Learn canning basics in this hands-on class. This class provides an introduction to water bath canning, including food safety, necessary equipment and expert tips. Learn the best types of food to preserve through canning and get a chance to experience the process in class. You'll leave with the skills you need to can jams, quick pickles and more. Enjoy the taste of your summer harvest all winter long! This class includes hands-on canning in the kitchen, so prepare to get messy.
The instructor is Kristin Danielson-Wong, who first learned to can from her grandmother over two decades ago. Every year she cans jam, pickles, sauces and tomatoes. As a life long teacher she is delighted to have the opportunity to share the basics of canning so others can enjoy their garden bounty all year long.
