California's New Energy Code: Challenges and Opportunities
This 90-minute course is designed to familiarize architects, engineers, building owners, and other project stakeholders with the available tools, resources, and methods to achieve significant energy savings beyond code requirements in the design of their buildings. Particular focus will be on strategies for increased building performance in light of the significant changes in the 2013 California Energy Standards (effective July 1st, 2014). Course includes an in-depth discussion of utility-sponsored incentive programs for new construction, approaches to modeling energy performance, and the principles of an Integrated Design Process.

Dave Intner, AIA, LEED AP, CEM
Dave Intner is a Licensed Architect, LEED AP, and Certified Energy Manager (CEM). A graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Dave works closely with the architectural and engineering community to help Southern California Edison's customers design and construct energy efficient and sustainable buildings through the Savings by Design program. Dave helped found the USGBC's California Central Coast Chapter (C4), where he currently sits on the chapter Board of Directors, and he assists the development of LEED through the National USGBC as a member of the LEED Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group (EA-TAG). He is also the 2013-2014 Board President of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Ventura County.
Kavita Rodrigues, LEED AP, CEPE
Kavita Rodrigues has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Manipal Institute of Technology in India and a Master of Building Science degree from the University of Southern California. She has been a speaker at the American Solar Energy Society national and world conferences and has had papers published at ASES. She has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2005 and is a Certified Energy Plans Examiner through the California Association of Building Energy Consultants (CABEC). Kavita has worked with architectural design firms in India as well as Southern California over the past ten years. She joined Southern California Edison in 2011 as the engineer for the California Advanced Homes Program.
