Since 2012, Rooms has forged a distinctive voice as an improvising ensemble. Comprised of Dan Pierson on keyboards, Charlie Kirchen on bass, and Matt Carroll on drums, the group plays compositions that provide different improvisational scenarios through variation in structure, mood, and feel. Rather than taking cues from a particular stylistic standard, Rooms' music is shaped by the energy of the moment, which allows each composition to take on new dimensions from performance to performance.
