The company's newest production constructs a philosophical world oscillating between intricate choreography, risky improvisations, and simple repetitive vignettes. This dance-theater work packs and unpacks, straightens and crumples, creases and irons out a fused expression of futility and delight through vivid, dream-like, and absurd explorations. Fold Rhapsody is choreographed by Elizabeth Dishman, in collaboration with the performers: Sara Gurevich, Joshua Reaver, Kensaku Shinohara, Mei Yamanaka and Caitlin Yuhas. Guitarist and sound artist Angelo Spagnolo weaves together music by Johannes Brahms with his own quixotic work in a robust sound design that both honors and peculiarizes the venerated Romantic composer.
