FEAR AS FUNK!
Queer As Funk is returning to The WISE Hall, and they're bringing company...Three bands, one night, twenty-five bones.
Dress up, dress down, or come in costume. But be ready for the funk.
QUEER AS FUNK Totally unique in the history of Vancouver's LGBT community, Queer as Funk brings together nine of the city's hottest queer musicians in an explosive, high-energy dance band. With repertoire ranging from beloved funk, soul and motown classics of the 60s and 70s (Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder) to contemporary favourites (Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake), Queer as Funk is also the sharpest-dressed suit-and-tie band in town.
THE ELECTRIC MONKS The Electric Monks are a funk orchestra out of East Vancouver. Specializing in dance parties since 2011, they've been known to lay down a funky good time with some old school cool. The Electric Monks boast a collection of talented Vancouver musicians and excite crowds with burning soloists, tight arrangements and a slamming rhythm section. The band draws their inspiration from the dance music of Maceo Parker, Jimmy Smith, John Scofield and MM&W. Members include Brendan Krieg, Evan Bates Alex Flock, Tim Sars, Dan Shook and Sacha Levin. Some good honest backbeat!
CASS KING AND THE NEXT RIGHT THING
Hosted by the fabulous Zena Sharman!
Bathrooms will be gender neutral for the night. The bathrooms are wheelchair accessible. There is a wheelchair accessible door at the back of the hall, there will be a volunteer to assist. The stage is not wheelchair accessible.
