Atlanta Tour de Farm 2014
Join us for the third annual Atlanta Tour de Farm on Saturday, October 18th 2014. The Tour de Farm is a unique full day bicycle* tour of local urban farms, including farm-fresh provisions, locally sourced and prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, and optional overnight camping at Bamboo Creek Farm.
Riders have the option of participating in the whole event with dinner or camping - or can just do the tour, dinner, and/or camping. The ride is approximately 25 miles one way.
The on-farm supper will be prepared by Jarrett Stieber of Eat Me, Speak Me with a special dish from Global Growers international farmers. Bountiful meals and snacks are included and primarily sourced from the farms on the tour and market vendors including Spotted Trotter, King of Pops, Revolution Doughnuts, Pure Bliss Organics and other yummy market vendors. Farm visits include urban farms and unique locations generally not open to the public.
Guests should bring their own cycling and camping gear or they can borrow from CFM if needed. CFM will provide transport for ALL GEAR AND FOOD (don't worry - riders are not expected to ride with camping gear!) Participants are expected to have urban cycling experience - the day will be over 30 miles of riding. Ride leaders and mechanics will be present during the tour, and a free bicycle check is available beforehand.
Sites include: -Truly Living Well (starting point) -Habesha -5th Kingdom Mushrooms -Freewheel Farm and Compost Wheels -Love is Love Farm at Gaia Gardens -Mealor Family Gardens -Bamboo Creek Farm (ending point)
Ride route will be emailed to registered participants. You must register online in advance to participate.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Community Farmers Markets educational outreach programs (www.farmatl.org), participating farmers, and the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition.
