Sacra/Profana

Sacra/Profana will sing the US premiere of "when we were children" by David Lang, the world premiere of "On and On and" by Matt McBane and other choral works ranging from Pitoni's 17th Century "Mass for the Dead" to contemporary works for chorus.

With a repertoire including everything from Mozart to Schoenberg, as well as Prince and The Smashing Pumpkins, choral ensemble Sacra/Profana continues to defy genre classication. Since their debut in 2009, the ensemble has been invited to collaborate with legendary Irish band The Chieftains, Producer Carlton Cuse (of ABC's hit show LOST), Japanese composer Nabuo Uetmatsu, and many other prominent creative minds. Sacra/Profana continues to champion seminal works of modern choral repertoire rarely heard in Southern California. These include major works by Arnold Schoenberg, György Ligeti, Steve Reich, Vincent Persichetti, Ernst Krenek, Nico Muhly and David Lang. The ensemble's debut album, entitled Elegies & Ecstasies, was released on iTunes in May 2012.
