Opera Mariposa presents Puccini's compelling tale of loss and redemption, re-imagined by director Sergio Augusto Flores and starring acclaimed and award-winning artists from across North America. Set in a ravaged Europe during World War II, this groundbreaking production features a powerful new interpretation along with the timeless, transcendent music of what Puccini considered his finest opera.
Suor Angelica will feature two dream casts of emerging performers, including award-winners from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Canadian Music Competition and Vancouver Opera. The production will include a concert of Italian arias, with highlights from Madama Butterfly, La bohème, La traviata and many more.
