NWRS: Choral Gems from France, Northwest Repertory Singers with Northwest Sinfonietta
NWRS presents an evening of French music, including works by Ravel, Messiaen and Durufle. the concert will conclude with Gabriel Faure's Requiem accompanied by the Northwest Sinfonietta. Northwest Repertory Singers is a premier vocal ensemble whose mission is to enrich and educate the Northwest community through the promotion and development of choral music. Members are selected through a rigorous audition process. Each ensemble member comes from a rich musical tradition. The collective effect of this experience is an ensemble with an unparalleled commitment to the musical, emotional and technical performance of a broad range of musical styles and genres. The Northwest Sinfonietta was founded in 1991 by Christophe Chagnard and Kathryn Habedank on the occasion of the Mozart Bicentennial. Held as one of the Northwest's finest professional orchestras, it features thirty-five members from amongst the region's foremost instrumentalists. It performs a wide range of repertoire from Baroque to contemporary composers in the three main orchestral disciplines: symphonic, opera and ballet. Based in Tacoma, the Northwest Sinfonietta performs at the Rialto Theater and has also become a strong regional presence, with performances in Seattle, Kirkland, Port Townsend, Olympia, Bremerton, and Astoria, Oregon.
