Called a "duo piano mecca" by Pioneer Press, the Chicago Duo Piano Festival (CDPF) was founded in 1988 by Music Institute of Chicago faculty members Claire Aebersold and Ralph Neiweem. The Festival offers summer and winter events which include coachings, master classes, concerts with special guest artists and recitals for students age 12 through adult. In addition, the festival organizes period duo piano competitions which draw young professionals from around the world. THE MACK SISTERS YUKI & TOMOKO MACK Friday, March 6 7:30 PM Japanese-born Yuki and Tomoko Mack have won several prizes in prestigious international competitions such as the Dranoff International Two-Piano Competition in Florida, the Ellis Two-Piano National Competition in South Carolina, and the International Piano Duo Competition in Tokyo. PIANO FACULTY EXTRAVAGANZA Saturday, March 7 7:30 PM Music Institute of Chicago faculty present duo piano favorites in one of the the festival's most popular events. With more than 45 piano faculty members, MIC has one of the largest community school piano departments in the nation.
