Late at Rambert with New Movement Collective (NMC) and Kate Whitley: an open rehearsal (6.45 - 7.45pm) of New Movement Collective's Casting Traces followed by a music and dance recital (8 - 9pm) by Kate Whitley, Rambert's most recent Music Fellow.
The evening will also include the opportunity to see Close Protection, a video installation by Graham Gussin, in collaboration with New Movement Collective and the British Army combat camera team.
NMC is a new generation of choreographers who have a shared history through many of Europe's leading ballet and contemporary companies including Rambert. This session will allow audiences to see the collective in action as they work together re-creating and developing their work. NMC will be rehearsing Casting Traces, in preparation for their performances at Winchester Guildhall. It is New Movement Collective's debut 2012 production, a multi- media, promenade performance, inspired by Paul Auster's New York Trilogy, devised in collaboration with architect Elin Eyborg, composer Szymon Brzoska, costume designer Alice Walkling and Nylon Films.
Kate Whitley is a composer, pianist and producer. She is a winner of the 2013 SkyArts/Ideas Tap Futures Fund for her work to bring classical music out of the concert hall - "a generation tainted by nothing except enthusiasm, daring, virtuosity and idealism is blazing onto the scene. Kate Whitley is typical of this bold new breed" (The Times 2011).
