JOY OF JAZZ is a 3 concert series taking place in Vancouver's delightful St. James Hall on the west side of the city. Stikjazz Music and The Georgia Straight proudly present five acclaimed vocalists in concert performing their renditions of jazz and blues standards, folk and pop tunes and original pieces. Audiences will be treated to intimate duo, trio and quartet groupings at these shows.

'Heart & Soul' features some of Vancouver's most talented and diverse musicians sharing a double bill. Jillian Lebeck and Adam Thomas are about to release their first duets recording and they'll be featured in the first set. Jillian and Adam sing with voices pure, unaffected and soulful. They are definitely musicians who "serve the tune" with their blended harmonies and with the elegant chemistry the two friends share. Their repertoire is wide ranging and it's true these two talents enjoy performing a variety of genres ranging from jazz to pop to soul based music.
Karin Plato will perform the second half of the evening with Jillian and Adam playing as her band and with the brilliant clarinetist, composer and arranger James Danderfer as special guest. Karin will be performing some of the new material she's composed in recent months as well as some of her arrangements of songs both familiar and new to audiences. Swing and bossa nova and ballads with Karin's uke "Clooney" along for the ride on some tunes.
This is bound to be an exciting concert: dynamic, bold, creative and inspiring.
