JOY OF JAZZ is a 3 concert series taking place in Vancouver's delightful St. James Hall on the west side of the city. Stikjazz Music and The Georgia Straight proudly presents five acclaimed vocalists in concert performing their renditions of jazz and blues standards, folk and pop tunes and original pieces. Audiences will be treated to intimate duo, trio and quartet groupings at these shows.
The first concert (November 27th) features 4 Vancouver based musicians: Karin Plato, Jillian Lebeck, Adam Thomas and James Danderfer performing together for the 1st half with the Jillian Lebeck/Adam Thomas duo performing the 2nd half of the evening as they present songs from their brand new duet recording.
The second show (Valentine's Day February 14th) features Toronto based vocalist John Alcorn making his first Vancouver appearance. He'll be singing with the always incredible duo of Bill Coon and Darren Radtke. This will be a lovely way of celebrating Valentine's Day as John performs a wonderful repertoire of songs certain to please listeners who wish to be romanced by jazz music.
The third show will feature the acclaimed American jazz vocalist Kate McGarry and her husband guitarist Keith Ganz in their first ever Canadian appearance. It is a thrill and indeed a true pleasure to know that audiences will be able to hear Grammy nominated Kate and Keith perform in the acoustically warm and inviting environment of St. James Hall. Kate is an absolutely exceptional vocalist who sings with truth and soul and freedom.
