It seems so many of America's most celebrated writers, entertainers, artists and musicians battle alcohol and drug addiction or have loved ones who fight to stay clean. To explore the creative forces that influence these professionals' work and their tough roads to recovery, writer Susan Cheever is hosting a frank panel discussion called "Chasing the MuseCold Stone Sober" with some of New York's finest about the process of recovery through creative work habits.
SPECIAL GUESTS:
Susan Cheever, author, including 'My Name is Bill'
Joe Pantoliano, actor, author, mental health advocate
Steve Geng, author, including 'Thick as Thieves'
Sacha Scoblic, author, journalist, Unwasted.
WHY: Hazelden, www.hazelden.org a nationally recognized nonprofit that helps people reclaim their lives from drug/alcohol addiction, and Writers In Treatment, www.writersintreatment.org which helps addicted writers get treatment, have come together to offer an honest dialogue among some of Hollywood's most creative professionals who have been impacted by drugs and alcohol. While the panelists have endured personal struggles, they've also enjoyed successful careers. Event attendees will learn more about the panelists' individual stories, what they've done to overcome addiction, how the battle has impacted their careers and advice for those in the audience facing the same struggles.
