Cayuga Chamber Orchestra: Chamber Music Series #6
Two beautiful works complement each other in our first Chamber Music series concert of the season. Debussy longed to composer music in a style that would be distinctly French, and evoke images and feelings the same way the painters of his day did. If you haven't heard this quartet before, you'll be in for a treat as you hear Debussy's masterful way of making all four stringed instruments sound like one new instrument, in a way completely French, and uniquely Debussy.
Mozart has created landmark works in every genre he attempted - opera, symphony, works for solo instrument, and of course, chamber music. This quintet has become a well-deserved staple of the repertoire for winds and you'll know why after this concert.
DEBUSSY: String Quartet in G Minor, op 10 Kirsten Marshall and Jennifer Reuning Myers, violins George Myers, viola Sera Smolen, cello
MOZART: Quintet for Piano and Winds Sarah Kendis, oboe Michael Galván, clarinet Lee Goodhew Romm, bassoon Adam Schommer, horn Karl Paulnack, piano
