BACH: Selections from Goldberg Variations
STRAVINSKY: Histoire du Soldat
Bach and Stravinsky contrast and complement each other so well that we've planned a concert on both series that pair these two influential composers together. Led by our conductor, the Stravinsky will bring some of our favorite local collaborators together with our CCO musicians to use music, narration, and dance, to tell the tale of a soldier who makes a deal with the devil, based on a Russian folk tale. We'll begin the program with selections from Bach's famous Goldberg Variations, presented in a refreshing and unique way with different combinations of woodwinds.
Everyone is invited to join us immediately following the concert for a reception hosted by the CCO Board, to honor our concertmaster Linda Case, who will be retiring at the end of this season. Help us celebrate her 32 years with the CCO!
