JIMI HENDRIX RARE PERFORMANCES
Join host Bill Shelley for a special night of rare fi lmed performances of the legendary artist who fused blues, rock, psychedelia and jazz into a unique style that forever changed how the guitar was played
Jimi Hendrix was the ultimate rocker, blues, and jazz guitarist on acoustic, electric, and 12-string. Whether he played his own compositions or covered those of other artists, Hendrix brought a virtuosity and personal style that made his music easily recognizable. In his own terms, Jimi invented his "Electric Church Music." He toured all over the world, playing a mix of classic hits and lesser known gems. No two concerts were ever the same, and each performance had its own special quality, with sublime musicianship and dramatic smashing of guitars. To celebrate Hendrix's artistry 44 years after his passing in September of 1970, the program will include "Fire," "Foxy Lady," "Purple Haze," "Hey Joe," "Voodoo Child", "The Wind Cries Mary," and feature performances with his two most popular groups; The Experience and The Band of Gypsies. Hendrix also joined memorable musical forces with Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. This program will take you on a film clip time travel journey of performances featuring all new material from TV, and live concerts. Presented by Shelley Archives Inc. Approx: 110 min
