This is a $28 package of the Opening Night of Pomegranate and Myrrh and Late night screening of Help.
Opening Night - Bay Area Premiere Following the Awards Ceremony, The Arab Film Festival presents the Bay Area premiere of Pomegranates and Myrrh by Palestinian director Najwa Najjar, who will be present at the screening.
Pomegranate and Myrrh - Free-spirited dancer Kamar finds herself alone when her husband is jailed. While dealing with the grief of separation, Kamar must face the moral strictures of her community. She meets Kais, a Palestinian returnee, with whom she begins an elliptical relationship, founded in their mutual love of dance and fueled by the emotional strength it creates within them both.
Help - Lebanese filmmaker Marc Abi Rached's debut feature film tells the tale of a teenager, Ali, whose life is turned upside down when he meets Souraya, a prostitute living with a gay man who is threatened by a mobster. A highly controversial film, Help has tested the boundaries of the Lebanese censors with its use of nudity and the raw manner in which it explores social taboos.
