LET YOUR BODY TAKE CONTROL w/ AC Slater, Starkey, Dev79, Sonkin, Dr.ew & JohnBean
For 10/17 we are unleashing the 2nd installment of the "Let Your Body Take Control" party series and we are pulling out all the stops. There will be an open bar, live screen printing by Myles, soundsystem by Nik, the back deck will be open for a smoking area and the power packed DJ lineup for the night will be:
AC Slater (NY, Trouble&Bass, Palms Out Sounds, Ministry of Sound) Starkey (Planet Mu, Seclusiasis, Trouble&Bass) Dev79 (Seclusiasis, Slit Jockey Recs, On the Brink) Sonkin (Seclusiasis) Dr.ew & John Bean (Baroque, Under the Covers)
As if it couldn't get more hype - this night will also be the official release party for the 12" single from the upcoming Street Bass Anthems Vol. 4, featuring Starkey's "Starkvillain"! Street Bass Anthems is the wildly popular mixtape series that Dev79 & Starkey have been releasing for the past few years. Last but not least we are also gonna be heavy celebrating the borndays of Dev79, Sonkin, and Myles!
We're happy to be presenting AC Slater for a rare appearance in his former hometown. AC's tracks have gotten him consistent radio play on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss 100 in the UK, and have become integral parts to the DJ sets of Moby, Tommie Sunshine, Crookers, the Freestylers, MSTRKRFT, Drop the Lime, and Stanton Warriors, just to name a few. With his first major EP "Jack Got Jacked" released on Palms Out Sounds in September 2008 hitting #1 bestseller position on Juno, Moby calling AC Slater's "Turn the Music Up" remix one of the top songs of the decade, and AC being named one of XLR8R Magazine's "Artists to Watch" in 2009, it looks like the world is about to hear a lot more from AC Slater. He's got past work out on Plant Music, Fabric, Nightshifters, Mute, and more plus he's soon to release his first full length artist album on Trouble & Bass Recordings.
Over the past few years, Starkey has staked his claim as one of the sickest and most respected producer/DJs in the bass music scene. His recent Mix CD on Lo Dubs, Stark Bass, and debut album, Ephemeral Exhibits on Planet Mu, have been garnering more accolades than we could even think about including here. On top of that hes been touring non-stop bangin' up every club that gets in his sights. Fire is the only thing that comes out of this man, so rest assured that this night will be heated.
