Baroque Fest presents: Music of the Italian Masters - Day 3
Antonio Lotti wrote in a variety of forms, producing masses, cantatas, around thirty operas, and instrumental music. His work is considered a bridge between the established Baroque and emerging Classical styles. Lotti was a notable teacher, with Domenico Alberti, Benedetto Marcello and Johann Dismas Zelenka among his pupils. Lotti was an influence on Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Johann Dismas Zelenka, all of whom took the time copy out the score his Missa Sapientiae by hand. Conducted by James A. Brown, this evening features the First Presbyterian Church Chorale and the St. Cecilia Baroque Orchestra.
