Lights, Camera... ACTION!
DASSdance is in ACTION again! With some of the most technically advanced and emotionally stirring dancers in Seattle. DASSdance takes to the stage wrapped in El Wire (electroluminescent wire). This neon-like illuminating light technology is a new edition to the world of theater and will showcase the incredible line and athletic feats of the dancers. LCA is a journey into light, using light as inspiration for movement and creative way to display character. Muslin will encase the setting offering an intimacy and a way for projection to feel integrated. As much as explosive, mind bending athleticism creates action so does the development of the dancer as a person of interest. The intention is for an audience member to remark "I understand what that dancer is experiencing". Even though this is an abstract work, there are story lines for people to be touched by. Light, in its many incarnations, can be beautiful and give you a sense of warmth and make you feel good. Lights, Camera ACTION! aspires to have you walk away feeling inspired and "turned ON"!
DASSdance has a new home at Martin Luther King F.A.M.E. Community Center. We will show off this treasure of a community space by creating a dance/art installation work in the gym adjacent to our studio space. DASSdance has a long history, starting at Diane Von Furstenberg -The Theater in NYC in 2000, of transforming blank canvas spaces into artistic arenas that are both unexpected and wildly exciting. "DASSdance shows are multi media extravaganzas." Flaunt magazine. Lights, Camera ACTION! will push technology and dance together to create emotion and dynamic expression in our signature "rough and tumble" -Seattle Weekly - All- Terrain style of dance.
